Roald Dahl Day

Group of children and adults sitting in front of entertainer for Roald Dahl storytelling

In September we celebrated Roald Dahl Day with storytelling events through out the borough and craft sessions. Hannah Need, storyteller, ran events in conjunction with National Literacy Day. The following feedback was sent by Hannah Need for Lea Bridge Library:

“It was lovely working with you. Your library has a wonderful atmosphere, you and your colleagues made me feel so welcome and it was lovely to see how well you know so many of the children and their families”

Story from a Volunteer: Maria Gospodinova's experience

Library pic

"Volunteering has been a big part of my life ever since I was in my home country Bulgaria.

Seeing the offer on the Waltham Forest Borough`s newspaper that they are looking for volunteers who would like to help in the borough`s libraries was another cause that I knew I wanted to be part of.

The reason to take part in that amazing program was that I wanted to pursue a career in librarianship and the public sector. That is because libraries are a very essential part from our lives. Libraries are not only places where we can borrow books from and get access to computers.

The volunteering in Wood Street library has taught me so many new things that prepared me to successfully land a role as a customer service and business support officer in the North Chingford library. Now as a part of the team I am looking forward to showing people what a wonderful and beneficial place the library can be and be there for our customers to provide support and enjoy our time together.

I strongly encourage everyone who has the passion for helping and wants to learn some new skills and get experience in working as a part of a library to come and join our volunteering service."

Tell us your views on waste and recycling collections

Banner for recycling survey

We want to hear from as many residents as possible, on their views about our waste and recycling collections.

Whether you live in a flat or house, rent or own – we want to hear how we can support you to recycle more and improve our collections.

Paper copies of the survey are available at every library, or you can complete it online.
