Help with the cost of living

Money in a wallet

If you or anyone you know is experiencing the pressures of rising costs for day to day expenses like feeding yourself and your family and heating your home, we don’t want you to do it alone.

You could be eligible for a number of support options available to residents, including grants, financial advice, food banks and free school meals for children.

Free Covid testing for at-risk people

Changes to Covid testing

A number of people are still able to get free Covid-19 tests from the NHS. This includes people who:

  • have a health condition which means they’re eligible for new Covid-19 treatments
  • are going into hospital for surgery or a procedure
  • work in the NHS or in social care

If you're not eligible for a free NHS test, you can buy a Covid-19 test from some pharmacies and retailers. You can also use up test kits you might still have as long as they’ve not expired.

If you have symptoms of a respiratory infection, you should stay at home and avoid contact with other people until you no longer have a high temperature (if you had one) or until you no longer feel unwell.

The programme of Community in Fellowship Square events continues this Saturday with an African loom weaving showcase from 10am.

Last weekend’s board games tournament saw people of different ages and cultures come together to compete in the foyer of Waltham Forest Town Hall.

A final employment support session for Eastern European residents will close out this season of Community in Fellowship Square events on Wednesday 27 April, from 10am to 4pm.

All events are free and open to everyone in Waltham Forest.

Applications for the Community in Fellowship Square Fund’s second round are now open, giving all of Waltham Forest’s communities the chance to host cultural events and activities in the square.
