
Following major investment, Lea Bridge Library has reopened to provide state-of-the-art facilities for new generations of visitors.
The work, which included an extension and new café, is part of a £4 million investment in libraries across the borough.
Lea Bridge Library will offer a range of council services, including apprenticeship opportunities and rental spaces, and will be open 64 hours a week over seven days.

Waltham Forest Town Hall was lit up green and the Council is holding a series of fun and informative events up to the 26 September to mark Recycle Week 2021, to encourage residents and businesses to recycle more things more often.
This year’s events focus on how recycling and reusing can help tackle the climate crisis, including a ‘reuse exhibition’ in Walthamstow Mall tomorrow, Friday 24 September, where a living room and home office display will show how reused and upcycled items are environmental and sustainable alternatives to new furniture.

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, and if you have good digital skills, you could become a Waltham Forest digital mentor.
Waltham Forest Adult Learning Service is offering free training for adults who want to help residents learn or improve their digital skills. You would do a six-week peer mentoring course and support adults in the borough.

 Additional technical information for the Whipps Cross Hospital redevelopment has been submitted by Barts Health NHS Trust as part of their environmental statement, including sunlight and daylight in the designs and bat surveys. The overall proposals have not changed in this submission and there is no loss of service provision.
The re-consultation period is open until Saturday 23 October 2021; residents can submit comments via the planning portal and quoting application reference 211244 and 211245.

There are workshops where you can make your own African print hair accessory or learn drumming, and meet and greet sessions with authors including Uncle Kweks and the Queen of African Horror, Nuzo Onoh.
