The sign opposite Blackhorse Road station‘ The Place of Making and Creating’ this was an art piece delivered under the GLAs Outer London Fund regeneration programme in 2014.
The art work suffered damage in the last storm and the original family run company has been commissioned to make good the damage and restore the works.
It forms part of the Housing Zone funded programme to improve the links to the Wetlands along Forest Road.

The core of the construction work in Atelier place, Sutherland Road is complete and interior works will start in May 2021.
L & Q have delivered this award-winning development of 59 affordable homes and health hub. The new health hub will have ten consulting rooms including three treatment rooms. These will be used by GPs and specialist nurses. This provides an opportunity for consultants to run out-patient clinics locally as well as at hospitals. The new health hub which should then open in December 2021.

Derelict council building receives GLA Housing Zone funding to bring back into use as a creative employment use. Starting works Summer 2021.
The Housing Zone grant funded project requires retaining the employment use of the site but changing the use from Use Class B2 (General Industrial) to Use Class B1 (Light Industrial/Creative Workspace).
This project seeks to protect the building for long term creative workspace use, support an expanding local business and the Council’s Blackhorse Lane Creative Enterprise Zone.

The Creative Enterprise Zone (CEZ), Blackhorse Lane is gathering pace in its long-term development. The CEZ project team are keen to engage with the business community, and other stakeholders. The Creative Enterprise Zone can offer benefits for everyone and we would like its vision to be shaped by the rich demographic that live and work in the borough.
Over the next four years there will be a focus on securing affordable workspace, providing first class training and skills, employment opportunities and supporting access into creative career for young people and those that are underrepresented in the creative sector.

Lockwood Way Industrial Estate, works include:
- Improve signage and way finding
- Green the estate in collaboration with tenants
- Explore opportunities to improve linkages with Walthamstow Wetlands
- Improve perceptions, and the look and feel of Lockwood Way Estate
- Improved building frontages following engagement with businesses
- Examine opportunities for art interventions
- Pavement widening, fencing, landscaping and road resurfacing

As part of TfL’s London streetscape programme and to aid social distancing measures, the Council has introduced new segregated cycle facilities close to the Walthamstow Wetlands. There are segregated cycle facilities from Tottenham Hale tube and rails station in Haringey, eastbound through to Hoe St. The highways department are now working towards introducing new pedestrian and cycle facilities on the southern side of Forest Road in addition to two new secure, publicly available cycle hubs such as those at Walthamstow Central.
Works will to comprise:
- Walking and cycling improvements
- New lighting
- Signage
- CCTV
- Tree planting, landscape and sustainable drainage system.

Artists, makers and creatives come together for a celebration which takes over E17. More than 8,500 people exhibited or performed last time with 64 businesses and 105 homes and studios throwing open their doors. Many are still seeking venues to show their work. Artists have until 2 April to book their exhibition and event listings.
The ever popular biennial E17 Art Trail festival will take place across Walthamstow from 1 - 18 July. The festival organisers are keen to continue the tradition of encouraging people to explore venues on offer on our doorsteps.

The legal agreement has now been signed for The Collective to be turned into a modern music venue as part of our commitment after being the first London Borough of Culture. The development will include a restaurant and café as well as 300 co-living homes above, which are designed for single occupants and are available for rent.

Planning permission has been granted to provide 359 new affordable homes in a mix of one, two and three bedroom units.
