Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Walthom Forest

In response to the sharp rise in confirmed coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in Waltham Forest, the Government has set up two mobile testing centres in the borough this weekend. You can get a free test, whether you have symptoms or not, without the need to book ahead at Richmond Road Car Park, 3 Richmond Rd, Chingford, London E4 7BN and Church Lane Car Park, Leytonstone, London E11 4QN. Both of these sites will be open between 9am and 3pm. There is more information on the mobile testing centres here.

Some people do not show any symptoms despite having the virus. This means they can spread the virus to people who are more vulnerable – putting them at severe risk. Hospital admissions and, tragically, deaths are rising in our community. Our partners in the NHS are doing all they can but we must reduce the pressure on them.

Socialising with friends and families from separate households indoors risks spreading the virus. If you are out shopping in town centres this weekend please make sure you follow social distancing guidance. Wear a face mask, keep a two-metre distance where possible, and wash your hands regularly with soap.

Council officers will be out visiting businesses to make sure they are operating in a Covid-secure manner and offering advice to keep customers and staff safe.

If you need to order a free face-mask you can visit our libraries to pick one up, or order one by calling 020 8496 3000 or visiting the Council website here.

Please stay safe Waltham Forest.

For those who might have missed it, money raised from the appeal will go towards a Christmas present drive for vulnerable children and to local organisations supporting residents who face homelessness, food poverty, loneliness and vulnerable families.

If your situation allows and you would like to make a donation you can visit the link below.
