Waltham Forest Council's Choose Local. Support Everyone. to inform and persuade residents of the value in spending money locally has won Silver at the Public Service Communications Awards.
Up against more than 100 other entries, the awards recognise innovative and impactful communications.
Businesses can get involved with the campaign by sharing their services on social media using the hashtag #chooselocalWF.

Businesses in Chingford can get a free listing in the Waltham Forest Connected Business Directory, which is now being widely promoted as part of the Council's campaign to support our High Streets.
Social media advertisements are being run to help reach more customers, helping them find everything they need locally at the click of a button.
We encourage all local businesses to submit their business directory listing to get the message out that they are still trading.
All you need to do is add your details and provide a small amount of information about the products and services you offer.

A crowdfunding appeal in Highams Park and Chingford has raised £5,530 to purchase gift vouchers for vulnerable young children to choose a special Christmas presents, given to them with love from their community.
The group is working in partnership with Highams Park Food Hub, Friday Hill Food Rescue and Peabody’s Pantry to ensure that every child in their community feels cherished this Christmas.
Each child is privately referred to the organisers by food bank organisations, social workers and schools. The vouchers can only be spent in a participating shops in Highams Park and Chingford, in order to support businesses and the local economy.
A total of 325 vouchers are being given out..

The Chingford Green Conservation Area’s appraisal and management plan are currently being reviewed.
Public engagement launched on Monday 23 November 2020 so that residents and others can express their views.
The deadline for comments to reach the Council is Sunday 31 January 2021.
There are no proposals to change the current boundaries of the Conservation Area.

A private developer has submitted a planning application, reference number 203040, for a site at 480 to 510 Larkshall Road, Highams Park..
The site is just outside Highams Park station.
As always you can send your comments in up to the date of the Planning Committee meeting which will discuss the application.
No firm date for that meeting has yet been agreed but it is likely to be in spring 2021.
