The statutory deadline for comments is Monday 14 December 2020 and legally this cannot be extended.

Representations in support of, and against, the applications can be submitted by residents.

If any objections are received the application must be referred to the Licensing Sub-Committee. If a committee meeting is needed it is likely to be in mid-January 2021.

At the discretion of the Committee Chair residents making representations may be permitted to give a short address to the meeting.

There are limited reasons, set out by the Licensing Act 2003, which can be considered as valid when objecting to a licensing application.

The Council has produced a guide on how to make representations so they are valid.

Planning application comments deadline extended

Licensing applications are governed by different legislation than planning applications.

Waltham Forest Council offers an extended amount of time for residents to comment on significant planning applications so comments can be made on this scheme until the Planning Committee meeting which is likely to be in February 2021.

We will be issuing a further email newsletter with details of how to comment on the planning application when that is available to view on the website later this month.

Planned work will see better floodlights for pitches

Football on grass

As part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to sports facilities at Low Hall Sports Ground there is a planned programme of work to improve the area.

The AstroTurf pitch will still be available to use if the Secret Group’s event gains planning approval, although we may need to look at the access to the site for it. The AstroTurf pitch sits outside of the event site boundary.

The Council is also in discussions with the Football Association on long term facility improvements, but our short term plans include refurbishments of the changing facilities and replacement of the floodlights on both of the pitches.

Work on the floodlights is due to start from Monday 14 December 2020.
