Idling lorries will be moved on site

Hylands Road work progress 271120

There have been complaints from residents regarding construction vehicles accessing the Hylands Road development site.

There is a Construction Logistics Plan (CLP) in place which clearly states that deliveries to the site should take place only between 9.30am and 5.30pm.

We have reminded the contractors and asked them to tell their sub-contractors about the delivery hours that are acceptable.

We have made clear that we will enforce the conditions in the CLP and if residents see vehicles outside these delivery times then please let us know.

Climate Change

Any vehicles coming to the site should not be parking in residential roads at any time and should go to the site and park there if they are early.

Such vehicles should not have engines idling as this contravenes the Council’s response to the Climate Emergency.

We have asked enforcement colleagues to increase patrols in the area and take appropriate enforcement action if a driver is parked illegally or has the engine idling.

Again if residents see such vehicles please let us know as soon as possible so we can follow it up - photos of such infringements are always helpful when discussing such problems.

The demolition of the former buildings was completed, and construction work is well underway to build 120  new affordable homes, all for rent.

The proposals include a mixture of one, two- and three-bedroom apartments of which 12 of the homes will be fully accessible.

Landscaping on the site includes play space for pre-school age children.

The scheme is car free and includes secure cycle storage within the building for all residents as well as nine parking bays for use by people with blue badges.

As part of the Council’s commitment to minimising the impact of the Climate Emergency solar panels will be fitted on the development.

Dealing with potholes

Road works sign

A number of potholes near the development site have been linked to vehicles accessing the site.

The Council’s Highways Team will be repairing the potholes in the near future and the contractor will be recharged for the cost of this work.

If you see further potholes in the area please use the online report form so the information goes direct to the repair team so they can take necessary action.
