Planning Committee decision on 1 Blackhorse Lane

Following extensive public engagement by the developer, and Waltham Forest Council’s statutory consultation, a decision on the future of The Standard site, 1 Blackhorse Lane, Walthamstow took place this week.

On Tuesday 1 December 2020, from 7pm, planning application 202561 was discussed by the Planning Committee, which resolved to grant planning permission for the scheme subject to conditions and legal agreements being reached.

The Collective stage

The application, from The Collective, was for:

  • Redevelopment of the site involving demolition of existing structures
  • construction of a nine storey building (over basement) to provide 300 shared living rooms
  • associated internal and external amenity space
  • cultural venue measuring 766 square metres
  • cafe/restaurant, measuring 362 square metres

  • bar measuring 161 square metres
  • ancillary refuse store
  • cycle stores
  • servicing areas
  • landscaping
  • associated public realm works
  • provision of two disabled car parking spaces.
