Residents and Councillors have been expressing concern about the Hooker’s Road area in Walthamstow so following a number of meetings an Action Plan is now in place to tackle those problems.
Five teams in the Council - Environmental Protection, Highways, Neighbourhoods, Parking and Regeneration - are working together to implement the Action Plan and make Hooker's Road a more pleasant place in which to live or work.
One of the first things to get done was the resurfacing of the road (pictured) to get rid of the potholes and poor road surface.

New road markings have now been painted on the road and parking enforcement officers are making regular patrols.
If you park illegally a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) for £130 will be issued, or £65 if paid in 14 days of issue.
If you repeatedly park illegally then your vehicle will be removed. The cost of removing your vehicle is £265, including the PCN
Discussions are also taking place so that vehicles visiting businesses are able to turn round on site so they leave in forward gear instead of reversing down the road.

Every business must have a waste contract agreement in place to show it has proper procedures in place for the safe disposal of waste.
All the businesses units in Hooker’s Road have been visited by officers and have been served a Notice requiring them to provide copies of their waste contract agreement within a specific time.
Some businesses did not provide waste contract agreements and are now facing further enforcement action, including issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices.

Community Protection Warnings has been issued to a landowner requiring them to clear rubbish from their property by Wednesday 11 November 2020.
Regular patrols will be made to make sure that all landowners in the area keep their property clean and tidy.
The Council is also making sure its regular street cleaning takes place to a high standard in the area.

Further phases of the Action Plan include working with landowners and businesses to install CCTV to cover Hooker’s Road and surrounding areas.
The aim would be for the CCTV to be monitored from the central control centre so quick action can be taken if problems are seen on screen.
The cameras also record what they see 24 hours a day providing high quality images for use by the police and courts if illegal activity takes place.
