Draft Local Plan Site Allocations cover 2020

Last summer residents gave us more than 2,000 comments on the Draft Local Plan leading to a 730 page document on line with each comment having an individual response from the Council.

These were published online in June 2020 in a 730 page document in which each comment had an individual response from the Council.

A key question raised was where might redevelopment take place.

We have answered this in an additional Part 2 of the Local Plan, the Site Allocations document, which was published on Thursday 24 September 2020 for public comment.

We have identified 65 key sites across the borough and assessed how this land could best be used to meet the needs of local people.

As well as building around 19,000 new, high-quaiity homes during the next 15 years we are looking at where new health hubs, schools, parks, open spaces, transport interchanges and community facilities will be needed.

The inclusion of a site does not mean that its existing amenities would be lost, rather they would be enhanced, expanded or improved. Any proposals to develop a site would still need to apply for planning permission and achieve a high quality of design.

The Site Allocations document can be downloaded on line. Printed copies will be available for reading at all  openlibraries in the borough and at The Magistrates, Forest Road, Walthamstow. E17 4NX.

Sharing your views with us

Have Your Say megaphone

We want your views on the Site Allocations proposed.

The deadline for comments to reach the Council is Monday 14 December 2020,

The consultation work will once again cover North, Central and South Waltham Forest so people living in each of the three areas will be able to focus on where they live.

  • The easiest, and safest, way to share your views is using our online survey form which captures exactly what you said on each site.
  • Write to us with your views. Please type or write clearly, as some handwriting last year was not easily read and we want to properly capture your views.

If you have questions:

  • We are trialling some face to face drop-in events to see how they work. Our staff will be maintaining social distancing as we as wearing protective face coverings to meet current Ghealth and safety advice.
  • There will also be a series of virtual meetings held where the Council’s Planning Policy Team will be available to answer questions.

To enable us to plan for these events we ask that you register your interest in the meetings you wish to attend.
