Chingford Mount Town Centre Framework

Chingford Mount Oh My coffee shop and larder cafe restaurant

In February 2020, we received more than 1,500 responses, with nearly 400 from Chingford Mount through our online survey about the future of Town Centres in North Waltham Forest.

Since the survey was completed the world has been hit by the Covid 19 pandemic, which has impacted how we use our town centres.

As part of the Council’s response, we launched a borough-wide High Streets Action Plan and Chingford Mount has been selected as a pilot area to create a local ‘town centre framework’.

Feed into the Chingford Mount Town Centre Framework

Chingford Mount

The aim of the Chingford Mount town centre framework is to support the area to grow, adapt and thrive in coming years responding to the unique local economy, character and heritage of the place in line with the aspirations of local people.

We are keen that residents, businesses, stakeholders and community groups feed into this process to guide and shape a vision for the future of Chingford Mount town centre.

Complete the survey

Following input from this survey and consultation on the Local Plan Part 2: Site Allocations document taking place this Autumn, we plan to share more developed proposals for the town centre in early 2021.

Community stalls at this week's market

E4 Markets logo

Chingford Mount Market will be open for business on Saturday 26 September 2020.

Alongside the regular traders there will be a number of community stalls on the day, such as Age UK, Love South Chingford and the Hasseya Apothecary Garden, to showcase the unique organisations operating locally.

The Council’s Regeneration and Planning Policy teams will have stalls to talk to people about the existing assets of Chingford Mount and how the town centre can be improved for all.

Complete the survey

The market is open on the last Saturday of each month.

Conservation Area review this autumn

St Peter’s and St Pauls Church Chingford

There are currently 14 Conservation Areas in Waltham Forest and each one is reviewed periodically in line with best practice.

The Chingford Green Conservation Area’s appraisal and management plan are currently being reviewed, and work to finalise the documents is nearing completion.

Public engagement is planned for November this year so that residents and others can express their views.

There are no proposals to change the current boundaries of the Conservation Area.
