The planning application, reference number 191876, to build 196 new homes on a 100 per cent affordable scheme was approved by Waltham Forest Council’s Planning Committee on Tuesday 7 July 2020.
The application included one, two and three bedroom homes with all allocated to local residents or those who work in the borough, with the larger homes being offered first to families with children under eight years of age.
There will also be 20 homes for people with disabilities along with parking for six blue badge holders.
The scheme will be linked to the District Heating Network on the Coronation Square site. Commercial space will be provided along with a small café as well as 902.3sqm of light industrial floorspace is also proposed. Overall the scheme is expected to create 78 new jobs.
Pocket Living said it had 750 Waltham Forest residents on a waiting list for such homes, with nearly 40 per cent of these being key workers.
The Committee resolved to grant the application. The scheme will now go to the Mayor of London for consideration.
