Waltham Forest Council recognises the role individuals and community groups can play in meeting their housing needs.
The Council has a Community-led Housing policy effective from April 2020 that sets out what qualifies as Community-led Housing (CLH) and how the Council will support individuals and groups looking to meet their housing needs through community-led housing projects.

Waltham Forest Council currently has two sites advertised for possible Community-led Housing schemes.
The deadline for submitting bids on either site is 5pm on Monday 11 January 2021.
Claude Road, Leytonstone
This piece of land adjacent to 100 Claude Road is currently used informally for car parking.
It is 442 square metres in size and is within easy walking distance of Leyton Midland Overground Station and local bus stops.
Bidders for the site should deliver affordable housing.

Kings Road, Leytonstone
This mid-terrace site next to 73 Kings Road, Leytonstone, has been ear-marked for affordable housing.
It is a former garage site and the garages were demolished some years ago.
St John's Ambulance (SJA) has a lease on part of the site for access to the rear of its 66 Queens Road operational hub. That access will remain should the Kings Road site come forward for housing.
As the Kings Road site is currently underused, the Council has granted SJA temporary use of part of the Kings Road site for parking – this will be reviewed should development proposals come forward.
It is a short walk to Leytonstone Underground station and is well-served by local buses.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic national restrictions we will not be able to hold a community-led housing networking meeting this autumn as planned.
Could you let us know by email if you would be able to attend a virtual meeting by MS Teams or Zoom.
You received this newsletter because you signed up for news about Community-led Housing.
There are now email newsletters set up for most of the Council's services plus regeneration sites across Waltham Forest so if you are interested in other services please sign up for those newsletters too.
Please encourage friends and family to sign up so they too can stay connected with what's happening in our borough.
