Phased reopening of markets

Market primulas in bloom flowers

Waltham Forest is famous for its open air markets and in line with new Government advice these will now begin a phased re-opening.

Please remember to help stop the spread of the virus by following these four simple steps:

  • Only one customer being served at a time
  • Do not touch any item you do not buy
  • Queue in the designated places and stay two metres apart
  • Use contactless payment cards whenever possible

Market officers will be on duty to help customers and traders keep safe.

Keep an eye on our web page for up to date information.

Walthamstow Market set to reopen

Walthamstow Market

Europe’s longest street market in Walthamstow High Street will start trading again on Tuesday 2 June 2020.

To minimise the risk of the virus spreading stalls will be spread along the High Street and some traders won’t be in their usual places.

Posters will be on display reminding customers to maintain social distancing and there will be clearly defined areas where queues should wait.

Sunday markets

Walthamstow Farmers Market

The Waltham Forest Farmer's Market has continued selling food throughout the lockdown period and expects more stallholders to restart trading over the next few weeks.

The Sunday Social Marlet is currently planning to open from Sunday 15 April 2020 but some traders may be in different places so social distancing can be maintained.

Lloyd Park Market

Lloyd Park Market squash and pumpkins

Lloyd Park Market opened on Saturday 23 May 2020 for traders selling produce.

Further traders will open in the coming week but stall may be in different places so social distancing can be followed.

When details are confirmed they will be shared on Nextdoor social media and on the Council's web page.
