How we can help you
Our dedicated team will help you throughout your learning journey: from our frontline information and guidance team, to in-class assistance, to referral and progression opportunities.
We also have free:
- Drop-in job skills workshops
- English conversation clubs
- Arts, crafts and gardening workshops
- Family learning courses.
Help with fees
Your course fee will depend on your immigration/residency status and other circumstances.
If you are a jobseeker, receiving a means-tested benefit, employed and earning less than £25,000 per year, or receiving working tax credit, you could attend a course for free or get up to 70 per cent off your course fees.

Apprenticeships and continued professional development (CPD)
You can earn while you learn with an apprenticeship. Our work-based training programmes can help you start a new career or move up in your job.

Want to feel more comfortable speaking English? Come to one of our free English Conversation Clubs.
You don’t need to call or email: just turn up!
We have several conversation clubs all over Waltham Forest. To find you nearest one, please email us.

Learn skills that will help you at work and every day. Book an English or maths course with us!
We have English courses for complete beginners. We also have GCSE English courses to help you qualify for a job or further study.
Our English and maths courses are free if you have lived in the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA) continuously for three years, and you do not have English or maths GCSE grade A–C.
Need help getting a job? Get CV and interview help at our regular job clubs. We offer advice, employment support and much more.
Come by: you don’t need to book in advance. Our Job Clubs are Wednesdays and Fridays during term-time:

FAN supports activities that bring residents together. From educational trips to cultural performances to community learning, there are a wide range of initiatives.
Welcome Meals for new residents
Our FAN team is working with the Hornbeam café and Connecting Communities on an exciting project: ‘Welcome Meals’.
Welcome Meals are a way for new residents to meet and be welcomed to Waltham Forest. They’re free and available for anyone who’s arrived in Waltham Forest in the past twelve months from another country or within the UK.
