Following the recent exhibitions in July, the developer, St William, has organised two further drop-in public engagement events to share updated proposals for the Lea Bridge Gasworks site, off Clementina Road.
At these events residents can ask questions of the architects and St William’s team regarding the proposals.
Both are at Lea Bridge Library, Lea Bridge Road, Leyton, E10 7HU and are on:
- Thursday 14 November 2019, 4pm - 8pm
- Saturday 16 November 2019, 10am - 2pm
There is a special email newsletter for this project to keep residents up to date with what is happening.

Passengers using Lea Bridge Station now have extra trains they can use after servcies doubled in September.
After a sustained campaign by the Council, Lea Bridge Station opened in May 2016 and three years later we have twice as many trains running with a train each way every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes.
This is possible because Network Rail has built a third track from just north of Lea Bridge Station to Meridian Water Station, allowing extra trains to run.
The additional services will help cope with the extra demand which will come from the housing and business regeneration schemes taking place in the area.

Plans to improve Lea Bridge Library have been approved.
The plans include building a rear extension to the existing library for use as a cafe and additional alterations to the existing building, installation of solar panels and some landscaping.
As the library is also a Listed Building additional permission was needed.
This work is part of the Council’s continuing investment in improving libraries, which includes providing extra facilities at the heart of our communities.
As a result of this work, Lea Bridge Library will become a Library Plus, opening extended hours, 361 days of the year.
Full details of the plans are on the Council’s website.

The Council is proposing to develop 300 new homes, new cultural/commercial space, publicly accessible green space, and a new station entrance and public space on three sites near Lea Bridge Station.
The Council is currently out to tender for a Development Partner to work with us to deliver the project. The Council will be retaining freehold ownership of the three sites.
The Council ran a number of public engagement events last year, and the feedback received has been valuable in shaping the Council’s requirements for the sites and the feedback report can be found on our website.

The Council and the Greater London Authority (GLA) are preparing a masterplan to improve Argall Way, Lammas Road, Orient Way and Rigg Approach industrial areas.
The masterplan aims to:
- Improve existing employment space whilst providing a wider range of space for businesses
- Improve accessibility and servicing for the businesses in these area
- Test whether the area could be intensified to deliver at least the same amount or greater levels of industrial space, but with potential new homes (where appropriate) and community facilities.
The masterplan will focus on existing businesses, with opportunities to contribute to the emerging plan.
A timeline will soon be published on our website.
A special email newsletter is being produced for people interested in this project.
Quick work was made of the final stretches of Lea Bridge Road where segregated cycle tracks are being installed.
The majority of the four kilometre road from Hackney to Whipps Cross interchange now has segregated cycle lanes on both sides of the road.
The remaining sections, at the border with Hackney, near the Bakers Arms junction and Leyton Green Road as well as around the Whipps Cross interchange, are now completed.
As part of the scheme improved junctions, new crossings and bus stops, as well as trees, planting and cycle parking were installed along the route.

The Deputy Mayor for Transport, Heidi Alexander, joined Waltham Forest Council, Transport for London and the City of London Corporation to officially open Whipps Cross Interchange, Lea Bridge Road Cycleway and Walthamstow Gyratory.
The new Cycleway is already proving very popular locally, with a 120 per cent increase in cycling trips on the route from July 2016- July 2019.
The marketing suite and show apartment are now open and all are welcome to visit and speak to the sales team.
The tallest of the six blocks has reached its highest point, with all blocks at varying stages internally, from having kitchen units fitted to having underfloor heating installed.
