New homes and business space proposed for Central Parade redevelopment

Central Parade garages

Central Parade is an important cultural and architectural asset at the heart of our town centre.

Unfortunately this much loved heritage building has always suffered from Anti-Social Behaviour, particularly in the garage and mews areas to the rear of the building.

We have been looking to find ways of solving those problems while still retaining the historic character of this important site at the heart of Walthamstow.

One of the ideas discussed is to create a Mews style housing development of 19 new homes, half of which will be affordable, on the site currently occupied by the garages and sheds, as we continue to provide new homes on suitable town centre sites.

There will also be some commercial units fronting Eastfield Road which is part of our continuing commitment to provide suitable premises for local businesses wishing to create jobs in our town centres. At the same time, we will be converting current commercial space, above ground floor level, to provide six extra Council rented homes.

We believe this will give a long-term solution to the ASB problems residents have faced while at the same time providing much needed new housing, including affordable housing, in Walthamstow Town Centre.
