Real Food Hub consultation proves popular

Real Food Hub consultation 250219

Residents and business representatives around the Leyton Sports Ground headed to the “old tin hut” on Monday to see the proposals for the Real Food Hub, discuss them with the consultants and project manager working on the scheme and then share their views.

More than 70 people came along, including representatives from Waltham Forest Civic Society, the Leyton and Leytonstone Historical Society and Hainault Road Baptist Church.

Residents were asking questions for more than three hours and the overall reaction from residents was supportive of the proposals, with a number volunteering to get actively involved.

If you didn’t manage to make Monday's event you can see the proposals and complete the survey online – closing date is Thursday 28 February 2019.

Ending the rumours about the Cricket Hub

ECB Cricket Hub nets

During the discussion about the Real Food Hub residents raised some questions about the creation of the new ECB Cricket Hub, where work started this week.

The new cricket hub will host professional matches as well as provide local residents with even more opportunity to get involved with sport.

There will be an emphasis on encouraging more women and girls to play cricket as well as encouraging the Asian community to get involved. The Leyton Sports Ground Main Sports Hall will be fully refurbished, including providing changing rooms, in time for this summer’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will allow the ECB to capitalise on the tournament and promote the new centre while interest in cricket is at a peak.

There are NO proposals to build grandstands for spectators alongside the pitch nor are there plans for a major new building on the site. The England Womens' Cricket Team will not be based at this hub.
