Anfonodd Prif Swyddog Deintyddol Cymru lythyr (yn Saesneg yn unig) i Fyrddau Iechyd a Rhanddeiliaid Deintyddol Cymru ar ôl cyhoeddi Adroddiad Rhaglen Effeithiolrwydd Clinigol Deintyddol yr Alban (SDCEP - yn Saesneg yn unig) ar weithdrefnau sy'n cynhyrchu aerosol a COVID-19.
Rydym yn rhannu llythyr y Prif Swyddog Deintyddol â phractisau deintyddol preifat cofrestredig er gwybodaeth ac i gadarnhau na fydd unrhyw newid o ran y gweithdrefnau gweithredu safonol (yn Saesneg yn unig) y mae angen i chi eu dilyn ar hyn o bryd. Noder hefyd fod y Prif Swyddog Deintyddol wedi ymestyn y cyfnod oren o gyfyngiadau wedi'u llacio tan fis Rhagfyr 2020.
Yn olaf, o ystyried y cynnydd presennol o drosglwyddo COVID-19 yn y gymuned, rydym yn argymell cynnal adolygiad uniongyrchol o'ch gweithdrefnau COVID-19 er mwyn sicrhau eu bod yn cyd-fynd â'r Weithdrefn Safonol y cyfeirir ati uchod. Yn ytsod arolygiadau diweddar, rydym wedi gweld ac wedi clywed pryderon nad yw rhai practisau yn dilyn y Weithdrefn Safonol, yn enwedig mewn perthynas â gweithdrefnau sy'n cynhyrchu aerosol. Er bod lle i lunio barn glinigol a dehongli o dan y Weithdrefn Safonol, nid yw'n dderbyniol anwybyddu ei gofynion.
Ni fyddwn yn petruso cyn gweithredu a defnyddio ei phwerau gorfodi pe bai practisau deintyddol cofrestredig yn methu â chyflawni eu cyfrifoldebau i ddiogelu cleifion a staff rhag dal, neu ledaenu COVID-19.
The Chief Dental Officer (CDO) for Wales has sent a letter to Welsh Health Boards and Dental Stakeholders following the publication of the Scottish Dental Clinical Effectiveness Programme (SDCEP) report on aerosol generating procedures (AGPs) and COVID-19.
We are sharing the CDO’s letter with registered private dental practices for information and to confirm that there is no change in terms of the standard operating procedures (SOP) that you are required to follow at the current time. You will also note that the CDO has extended the amber phase of de-escalation until December 2020.
Finally, given the current rise in community transmission of COVID-19, we recommends an immediate review of your COVID-19 procedures to ensure that they are aligned with the SOP referred to above. We have seen during recent inspections and heard concerns that some practices are not following the SOP, in particular in relation to AGPs. Whilst there is room for clinical judgement and interpretation built in to the SOP, ignoring its requirements is not acceptable.
We will not hesitate to act and use its powers of enforcement should registered dental practices fail to deliver on their responsibilities to protect patients and staff from contracting, or spreading COVID-19.
