To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, our offices will be closed on Thursday 2 June, Friday 3 June, and Monday 6 June 2022.
Therefore, our offices will be reopening on Tuesday 7 June.
You can still report a concern or give feedback using our online forms.

We are postponing the Self Assessment of Service Statement (SASS) until 2023
We are postponing the Self Assessment of Service Statement (SASS) until 2023. This decision has been made to support services at this difficult time.
We intend to open the SASS for completion at the same time in forthcoming years – January running into February. Further information can be found on our website.

Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) – Draft monitoring and reporting strategy
We are currently consulting on our draft monitoring and reporting strategy for the new Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) alongside Healthcare Inspectorate Wales and Estyn HMI. Our draft strategy describes how we will discharge our responsibilities for monitoring and reporting LPS. This will inform Welsh Ministers, and people in Wales, how LPS is working in practice and help keep standards high. We welcome your feedback on this draft strategy and have developed a short survey to capture your views.
National Advisory Board
Ruth Hussey OBE, the chair of our National Advisory Board has recently welcomed 7 new members to the Board, helping to provide a voice for people in the way we work.
The Board helps us by giving advice and recommendations on how we can improve care and social services in Wales for people, through better regulation, inspection and review.
Further details about the membership of the Board will be published on our website in due course.

Welsh Government and other news
Healthcare Inspectorate Wales National Review of Patient Flow (Stroke Pathway). HIW are currently undertaking a national review of patient flow. The focus of the review is to assess the impact that patient flow challenges may have on the quality and safety of patients awaiting assessment, receiving treatment, through to discharge from hospital services. To support their review HIW have launched a survey aimed at registered providers (Care Homes, Nursing & Residential & Domiciliary Support Services) and would be grateful if providers could take part by completing the survey.
New digital learning resources for infection prevention and control
Social Care Wales (SCW) have developed a set of digital learning modules to help anyone involved in the social care or early years and childcare sector know how to behave to reduce the spread of infections.
