To slow the spread of coronavirus in Wales, our heritage sites have been closed since 18 March — but today, we’re pleased to announce that things are changing (albeit slowly!)
Following thorough risk assessments and the introduction of new site safety measures — alongside the easing of Welsh Government restrictions — we’re now able to welcome visitors back to some of our unstaffed, outdoor monuments.

The small selection of unstaffed sites will be reopening on Monday 6 July, but in order to keep them open, we are asking everyone to help keep them safe by visiting respectfully and responsibly at all times, only visiting sites within your local area where possible.
To help with this, we have developed the below guidelines for visiting our unstaffed sites:
- Help keep Wales safe by avoiding extensive travel — where possible, we ask that you only visit sites within your local authority area.
- Maintain a distance of at least 2m from all other visitors outside your household.
- Do not meet up in large groups of more than six people from one other household.
- Refrain from high risk activities on site, including BBQs and the consumption of alcohol.
- Follow the guidelines set by Welsh Government at all times, taking any changes into account as the weeks and months progress.

It’s just the first step on a long journey of safely reopening our full collection of historic monuments, but regardless — we hope this news will provide some welcome relief and allow you to enjoy parts of the great outdoors that you have missed over the last few months.
