Visit Wales Germany Campaign Update

Visit Wales’ marketing activity in Germany will pick up over the next few weeks with destination and partner marketing campaigns going live and attendance at key travel shows and trade events. 

 

Visit Wales Destination Campaign

The Visit Wales brand awareness campaign launched on the 10th March with the out of home advertisements going live in Munich Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Duisburg and Essen, and print advertorials running in key travel and leisure titles. The campaign messaging has been aligned to the UK ‘Have you packed for Wales campaign’ and the key product themes are the Wales Coast Path, culture and heritage, countryside, walking and activities. Aberdovey golf course

Golf in Germany

Last year more than 43,000 spectators lined the fairways at the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club to witness German professional golfer and Bernhard Langer win The Senior Open Championship for a second time. Following the huge success of the event, The Senior Open Championship will return to Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in 2017 and Visit Wales will be working with a number of European Golf operators to target the German market in the build up to the event. Golf has been integrated into the 2015 campaign with an advertorial in Golf Magazine and a marketing partnership with tour operator Golf Extra. Visit Wales will also exhibit at the 2015 BMW Golf open in Munich in June 2015.  Find out more about our Golf opportunities.

Travel Trade

Travel Trade Update

The Product Marketing team have been busy promoting Wales to the German and international travel trade at a number of events over the past  few weeks. A number of travel trade representatives from Germany and the German speaking markets visited North Wales following on from Explore GB at the end of February. Visit Wales also exhibited at Germany’s most important travel show, ITB in Berlin from 4th-8th March with the travel trade, media relations and campaigns teams meeting with the German trade, media and consumers over the course of the event.

Expedia Partnership

Visit Wales is partnering with Expedia and Hotels.com in Germany to deliver a joint campaign across the sites in March. If you are interested in working with Expedia and Hotels.com in the future you can find out more on the Expedia website


Cardiff

Flybe announce Dusseldorf and Munich routes to Cardiff 

 

Flybe have announced that they will run a schedule from Dusseldorf to Cardiff from 25th April, and from Munich from 31st August and Visit Wales is planning to work with Flybe, Munich and Dusseldorf Airports to promote the routes in Germany. Find out more.
