In October we sent you some information on a new approach to accreditation for outdoor activity providers. Listings on the Visit Wales website will continue to be free, but you’ll need to self-certify your accreditation details via this form before the 1st of March.
Why Change?
Our new approach, developed in partnership with the Wales Activity Tourism Organisation (WATO), will provide visitors to Wales with a simple way to select activity providers based on their ability to deliver safe and effective industry practice. It will allow us to recognise activity providers that meet our expectations in terms of:
- sustainable activity tourism.
- good practice and standards of customer care
Giving us all confidence that risk managed, high quality activity provision is available across Wales.
What's involved?
You’ll need to self-certify your accreditation information. Asking you to identify the activity(ies) and your current accredited status for each activity, for example:
- Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA)
- National Government Body (NGB) Accreditation
- Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge
- Adventuremark Accreditation
- British Activity Providers Association (BAPA)
If none of these are relevant, or you offer other activities not covered by one of the above accreditations, you’ll be able to submit a report provided by a third party technical advisor.
For further information please contact one of the following or quality.tourism@wales.gsi.gov.uk
To update your online entry to include full details about your activity products such as opening times and prices etc, please continue to update in your usual way. We’ll match your details with your completed self-certified accreditation details.
