Consultation: Children missing education database

Closes 25 April 2024

We are consulting on draft regulations that will:

  • place a requirement on local authorities to develop a database of children in their areas who are potentially missing education (CME)
  • place a requirement on local health boards to share basic information about children with the relevant local authority, so that they can establish the database.

National Network Conversations 2024 - Book today to secure your place!

6 February, Venue Cymru, Llandudno

A great opportunity to receive the latest update on the Curriculum for Wales: Continuing the Journey guidance; share your thoughts on opportunities and challenges in the six areas of learning and experience; and help shape policy and practice to benefit all learners in Wales.

Personalised assessments:

  • Planning ahead - Remember that personalised assessments are available for flexible use throughout the year. If you wish, you can use them early in the school year and then use the feedback and other reports to help with your planning for learner progression. The assessments can be taken a second time later in the year to assess progress.

  • New group skills report available - A new report for Numeracy (Procedural) and Reading has been developed to help support teachers plan next steps in skills development.

Assessment arrangements for funded non-maintained nursery settings

Undertaking your initial assessments? The Assessment arrangements for funded non-maintained nursery settings can help you plan and undertake initial and ongoing assessments within funded non-maintained nursery settings. Alternatively, Supporting learner progression: assessment guidance advises schools and settings on matters to which they must have regard when making, implementing, reviewing and revising assessment arrangements.
