New arrangements to ensure high quality professional learning for all education practitioners in Wales

Developing high quality teaching and leadership through guaranteed career-long professional learning and support for all staff is central to the realisation of our vision for education in Wales and is one of the five enabling objectives in 'Our national mission: high standards and aspirations for all.’

Curriculum Design Pilot 2023

Between January and June 2023, Welsh Government facilitated a curriculum design pilot, with practitioners trialling a ‘backwards design’ approach to designing learning with purpose. 30 schools worked together and alongside Initial Teacher Education leads, regional and local professional learning leads and advisors to test how the approach could work in their context, and support practical application of Wales’ principles of curriculum design. The group produced case studies and other materials, available now, to share the valuable learning and experiences with colleagues. ITV: Britain Get Talking at your School, 10 October 2023

For World Mental Health Day in October, ITV’s Britain Get Talking and YoungMinds #HelloYellow are collaborating to help children across the country open up.
