Autumn campaign and Llwybrau. Wales By Trails update
Visit Wales is currently partnering with Transport for Wales on a campaign to extend the season and encourage visits to some popular destinations by train such as Aberystwyth, Tenby, Chepstow and Conwy. Messaging is focussed around promoting ease of access, free travel for children on TfW services and 2 for 1 entry at Cadw sites. The campaign consists of social ads, digital display ads, out of home posters at key locations, and influencer activity.
Our Visit Wales autumn campaign has also been running through August and September with digital, TV and Video on Demand advertising and press partnerships in titles such as The Guardian, Simple Things and Wonderlust. This campaign has been targeting last minute bookers, city breakers, luxury seekers, families, outdoor enthusiasts, and older travellers. Find out more about our audience identities on Assets: Audience Insights | Visit Wales.
Ways you can be involved with our campaigns:
- Make sure you are graded and/or accredited and have your product listed on visitwales.com, where we drive traffic.
- Ensure your product page is up to date with refreshed images, videos - everything a potential visitor needs to know about your business.
- Let us know if you have any special offers or events taking place; email productnews@gov.wales and we’ll share with our media contacts. Also highlight if you offer something different or new that would appeal to visitors, which we could use as a hook for positive PR stories for Wales.
- Get involved with our Llwybrau. Wales By Trails theme this autumn: Read our ‘Llwybrau. Wales, by Trails’ industry guide for tips and ideas, download the logo for use on your own marketing materials and use some of our free high-quality images for promoting Wales. These are all available on our “Llwybrau. Wales, by Trails toolkit”. Also be sure to tag your social posts with #Llwybrau #WalesByTrails so that we can help share your content.

A default 20mph for Wales: inform your visitors / guests
On 17 September 2023, 20mph became the default speed limit on restricted roads in Wales.
Restricted roads are usually located in residential and built-up areas where there are lots of people. They often have street lights on them, placed no more than 200 yards apart.
This change was made to:
- reduce the number of collisions and severe injuries from them (also reducing the impact on the NHS from treating the people who are injured)
- encourage more people to walk and cycle in our communities
- help to improve our health and well-being
- make our streets safer
- safeguard the environment for future generations.
