The Welsh Government has asked York Consulting to gather information from maintained schools and PRUs about practice to avoid school exclusions and the support needed to avoid exclusions. The pro forma consists of 7 questions, which should take around 10-15 minutes to complete.

The MHRA have issued clarification on the permitted scope of use of spare adrenaline auto-injectors held by schools.This clarifies information in the Welsh Government’s guidance on ‘The Use of Emergency Adrenaline Auto-injectors in Schools’.

Regional Consortia mental health awareness programme

The Welsh Government has extended the work of Careers Wales, to support entrepreneurship engagement and delivery of Big Ideas Wales in Schools from 1 June 2023.

Unions and the World of Work Pilot Project

Working in partnership with Wales TUC, we have developed resources to improve students’ understanding of the world of work, workers’ rights and the role of trade unions. This supports the Careers and Work-Related Experience (CWRE) theme of the Curriculum for Wales. Resources can be delivered by teachers or by union reps who can be invited to school as guest speakers. Email to register.

Wales Innovation and Creativity in Mathematics Teaching Conference 2023

Further Mathematics Support Programme Wales is pleased to announce the return of Innovation and Creativity in Mathematics Teaching Conference 2023, which will take place on the 14 July 2023 at Swansea University Bay Campus. All secondary mathematics teachers in Wales are invited to join the conference for free.

Challenge your children to start a business with just £5 in four weeks!

The Fiver Challenge, from Young Enterprise is a free national enterprise programme providing children, aged 5-11, a highly interactive and fun way of developing core enterprise and financial education skills, including problem solving, confidence, creativity and teamwork.  The Fiver Challenge will be running 5-30 June. Para Sport Festival

Over 20 sports, from athletics to wheelchair rugby, will be available for your pupils to participate in. The Para Sport Festival is supported by the Welsh Government and all activities will be delivered by local insport Clubs and National Governing Bodies of Sport.

Can you help improve the evidence base around educational apps?

Researchers from the Collaborative Institute for Education Research, Evidence and Impact (CIEREI), are keen to hear from primary teachers in schools across Wales to find out how they use apps to support learning. They are particularly keen to hear from teachers who use apps in Welsh medium settings.
