Well, here we are in December once again - where does the time go!!
It's been a busy year as always and as the end of the EU Programme 2014-2020 approaches, we have been working hard to gather the very best examples of best practice whilst still working hard to ensure new projects that have been approved are available on our project directory - and there are still new projects being regularly approved.
We would like to take this opportunity to re-cap on the successes of 2022.
The main highlight for Wales Rural Network and all stakeholders was the highly successful and first physical event sine 2019 - Celebrating Rural Wales Event.
We were super proud and pleased with how the event at The Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells went in June
The celebration welcomed over 360 delegates over the two-day event, with more than 30 projects showcasing their work.
The two days included themed panel discussions covering the subjects that matter to rural Wales, and a chat show with some of the case study beneficiaries, explaining what the funding has meant to them and outlining their success.
The first day came to a close with a True Taste celebration of Wales' food and drink products that the Programme has supported -
- 30 Ingredients from RDP funded projects used in menu
- 28 Projects showcased
- 129 RDP Funded Food & Drink Companies featured.
The Celebrations came to a climax with The Wales Rural Network Awards, rewarding 4 projects from across the event themes which best epitomise the ethos of the funding programme.

With over 1,700 funded projects included on our website, the map gives a visual idea of just how many projects have been funded in the rural areas of Wales - we should never underestimate what a massive difference this has made to local areas, communities and people.
We have added 118 projects to the directory during 2022 and there will be another update in the New Year.

During 2022 we have collated and uploaded 206 case studies to the website, some including videos. Read the interesting journeys that projects have gone through and lessons that have been learned for future projects.
