Health and Safety: Advice for legionella control in spa pools and hot tubs

Spa pool systems such as hot spas, hot tubs and portable spas can be a source of diseases caused by infectious agents, such as Legionella, E.coli, Cryptosporidium, Pseudomonas etc. 

Advice for legionella control in Spa pools and hot tubs has been produced by Bridgend, Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Councils, who are looking to work closely with local businesses to provide guidance and advice on legionella and other infectious diseases. If you offer such facilities in those areas, please contact Shared Regulatory Services by email on: healthandsafetyenforcement@cardiff.gov.uk.

UK Government backs new reforms making it unlawful for employers to withhold tips from staff

New legislation to make it unlawful for employers to withhold tips from staff, it means customers will know for certain that all tips will go to hard-working employees. The Tipping Bill will benefit more than 2 million workers and, for the first time, will give them the right to see an employer’s tipping record.

Resilient Communities Grant Funding

National Resources Wales has £2 million of grant funding available to help individuals and organisations increase community participation with nature to build resilient communities.

The funding will help deliver projects that give people opportunities for:

  • improved mental and physical health
  • learning new skills
  • being part of safer communities
  • more access to nature
  • a better awareness of the impact of climate change
  • involvement in making decisions about their natural environment
  • participation in citizen science

YHA’s Wales strategy 2022

YHA is developing a Wales-specific strategy outlining its priorities for developing YHA in Wales over the next three years.

Looking to connect with partners and stakeholders across a range of sectors and bodies - including tourism, outdoor, heritage and culture – views are being sought on the draft proposals set out in yha-wales-strategy-2022.pdf.


Regulations reforming the Non-Domestic rates appeals system for Wales

The Welsh Government is seeking views about measures which will improve the appeals process.

Consultation ends 11 October 22.
