Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE)

RSE will be a mandatory element of the Curriculum for Wales. It plays a central role in supporting learners’ rights to enjoy fulfilling, healthy and safe relationships throughout their lives. The whole school approach to RSE includes anti-bullying, positive peer relationships and online safety. This playlist includes a leaflet and animated explainers for parents/carers, which you may find useful to share.

New blog post: National pilot now live: new school evaluation and improvement resource

A national pilot is now underway of the National Resource: Evaluation and Improvement. The Resource has been designed to provide schools with a means to evaluate and improve performance over time, in harmony with curriculum reform and Estyn’s evolving approach to inspection.

Welsh language immersion support for learners to be expanded Wales-wide

Eight local authority areas will create their first Welsh language late immersion centres and all Welsh local authorities will receive additional funding to focus on establishing new late immersion provision.

The Wales Association of SACREs (WASACRE) is developing and facilitating professional learning for Religion, Values and Ethics for the Curriculum for Wales.  This new professional learning will be available to schools in the summer term 2022. Group for Education in Museums (GEM) project survey

GEM is an exciting project to determine the existing level of understanding and awareness regarding the introduction of the new curriculum for Wales. If you work in a Welsh school, please fill in this survey. An initial training event for both museum and school staff will be organised by GEM early in the Spring term.

This March, TeenTech is bringing schools across Wales a live, interactive programme of online science and technology engagement events for ages 8 to 19!

New Competition and Resources for Schools in Wales: The Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators

A new translation competition is launching in Autumn 2021 for students aged 11-18 in Wales. The Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators is an initiative from the Translation Exchange at The Queen’s College, University of Oxford. The competition will run from French into Welsh for the first time in 2021-2022.
