Is your business in a dark skies recognised area?

Wales has some of the best places in the world for stargazing and it’s an experience people of all ages can enjoy.  In light of this, we’ve added a ‘dark skies’ filter tag; which means that if your business supports a dark skies officially recognised area you can showcase this through your listing on visitwales.com.  Simply, log into the product listing tool, scroll down to the heading ‘Visit Wales Tags’ and tick the ‘dark skies’ box then we’ll review those tagged businesses to ensure that they align with the Dark Sky areas and activity.

You can update your Visitor, Travel Trade and Business Events listings at the same time.

What do you think of sustainable tourism?

Audit Wales wants to hear from tourism businesses in and around Wales’ National Parks about the challenge of managing sustainable tourism.

Our National Parks are internationally important examples of how working landscapes can be protected. The concept of a protected landscape – a protected area within which people live and work – is of increasing importance in global conservation terms.

Find out more in our previous bulletin and please complete the survey here: By spending a few minutes sharing your views you can help shape the future of sustainable tourism in Wales.

Tell HMRC and pay back a Self-Employment Income Support Scheme grant

HMRC is writing to individuals who have received grants under the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme but have yet to fully complete a self-assessment tax return for 2019/20. The letter details the action claimants need to take.

To be eligible to claim a grant under the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) individuals must have been trading as self-employed or in a partnership in 2019/20. They were required to complete an income tax self-assessment tax return for that year, which should have been submitted by 31 January 2021.

HMRC is now writing to those who made a claim for one of the first three SEISS grants (which ran from March 2020 to January 2021), but who have either not submitted a 2019/20 return or whose return did not report income from self-employment or a partnership.

You can find more details on the Business Wales website.
