Curriculum and Assessment Requirements for 2021/22
The temporary modification and disapplication of curriculum and assessment requirements in response to the COVID-19 pandemic ceased on 23 July 2021. As a result full curriculum and assessment requirements will resume in September for 2021-22 academic year. As announced on 6 July, to create space for practitioners to prepare their curriculum for teaching next year, we intend to remove the requirement for schools to undertake end of foundation phase and end of key stage assessments in the 2021-22 academic year, for year groups that will be transitioning to the new curriculum in September 2022. This will only apply to primary schools.
New teachers in Wales who saw their training disrupted by the pandemic will receive a term of employment to help them into their new roles, thanks to an extra £1.7m in Welsh Government support.
