20/21 Schools as Learning Organisations (SLO) Survey – NOW LIVE

The Schools as Learning Organisations (SLO) Survey is now available on Hwb. Use the Google Chrome web browser to log into Hwb to complete the survey and access reports. 

For schools who are repeating the survey, the questions have not changed and school results are still displayed as a spider diagram. The user experience on Hwb will be very different, therefore, we urge head teachers to read the survey desk instructions on Hwb prior to logging in.

Recruit, Recover, Raise standards: the accelerating learning programme

Welsh Government has boosted school funding to enhance support for learners to ‘recruit recover and raise standards.’  New videos with school leaders across the sector, capture their plans to maximise this funding.

Welsh Government: St David Awards 2021

Coronavirus has had such an impact on all our lives this year and in selecting finalists for the 2021 St David Awards, particular attention will be paid to individuals in each category who made a special contribution during the outbreak.  We have also introduced a new ‘Key Worker’ category this year. Nominations close on 15 October 2020.

Welsh Government and the Arts Council of Wales are delighted to announce that applications are open once again for the pioneering Lead Creative Schools Scheme, as part of the second phase of Creative learning through the arts – an action plan for Wales.

Pori Drwy Stori Reception resources: supporting literacy, numeracy and home-school links

Your Pori Drwy Stori Reception delivery (delayed due to coronavirus pandemic) should arrive at EVERY school with a Reception class from week commencing 14th September. This delivery will include:Family GuidesRhyme Challenge packs, My Weather Watch Calendar and Unicorn’s Challenge magazines for your YEAR 1 class.

Pori Drwy Stori Nursery 2020 registrations are open!

There are limited number of spaces available. You must register yearly for this programme. The programme is designed for children aged 3-4 in the two terms before they enter Reception. It focuses on supporting oracy skills, supporting parents / carers to be active partners in their children’s learning and supporting schools to develop positive home-school links. Closing date: 13th October 2020

A play friendly school 

Guidance and practical resources to support schools to take a whole school approach to children’s right to play. It has been developed to respond to Estyn’s Healthy and happy - school impact on pupils’ health and wellbeing report, which notes the importance of school play and break times. It is designed to enhance the good work already being done to provide better play opportunities to play in schools.

Children’s ‘Digital’ Festival of Welsh History 2020

The Children’s Festival of Welsh History is 7 years old this year. The remainder of the festival, which will last until October half term, will include 14 fifteen minute films featuring characters from Welsh History along with a variety of workshops ; Q&A’s with historical characters and the Big Welsh History Quiz.
