Submitting National Development Framework documents to the Senedd

We have considered your comments on the draft National Development Framework issued for consultation last year. A revised draft and accompanying documents will be laid (the official name for submitting) in the Senedd for a 60 day scrutiny period on 21 September. We will send you a newsletter around this time to provide further information on this stage in the process. 

Statement of Public Participation

A revised Statement of Public Participation has been published which is available to view here. The revisions reflect the changes to the timetable caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the normal workings of the Senedd.

Update from the Minister

An update was issued on the 16 July by Julie James MS Minister for Housing and Local Government on the National Development Framework which is available to view here.

This document was published on the 16 July and is available to view here. It gives planning policy guidance for local planning authorities and the development industry on priorities for the planning system to deliver post Covid-19..

And one more thing…!

You will soon begin to notice the name “Future Wales – the National Plan 2040” appearing on our documents and in our newsletter. Young people from Children in Wales explained to us that National Development Framework sounded too formal and didn’t give a sense of what the document is trying to do. The Minister for Housing and Local Government agreed with them, and accepted their suggestion of a new publication name for the NDF.  Later this month, the documents you see will begin to use the new name Future Wales – the National Plan 2040.
