Personalised Assessments – data agreement

This is a reminder for headteachers that you are required to accept the data agreement for the 2019/20 school year and review staff functions before your school can schedule any assessments.

New employment based scheme planned for April 2020

The Open University ITE partnership is developing two new routes into teaching, a Part Time PGCE and a Salaried PGCE, both leading to a PGCE and QTS. Secondary Science Salaried PGCE places are available in April 2020.  Aspiring Secondary Science teachers or Schools interested in this should visit openuniversity.co.uk/Wales-PGCE or email Wales-PGCE@open.ac.uk. Subject to accreditation by the EWC. 

School Workforce Annual Census – Deadline approaching (SWAC) 

SWAC is open until 18 December. Please check with your Local Authority (LA) the deadline for your return, as they will need to be reviewed before submission.  All queries should be directed to your LA in the first instance. Finally, a huge thank you for all the hard work you’ve put in so far.

New guidance on working with perpetrators of violence, domestic abuse and sexual assault

The ‘Good Practice Guidance’ looks to advise those without specialist know how - such as housing officers, health care staff and employment support workers - on how to recognise, report and support those who are abusive or are in an abusive relationship in a practical and safe way.

School-based Supply Cluster Pilot

The project has been evaluated to consider impact and the benefits of such a model and to encourage local authorities and schools, as the employers of teachers, to consider this as a viable alternative delivery method.  The report is available to view.

Chief Executive National Academy for Educational Leadership (NAEL) Wales

The Board is seeking a dynamic Chief Executive to build on and take forward the NAEL (Leadership Academy). The closing date for applications is 17 January 2020
