Wales tourism industry performance
The Wales Tourism Business Barometer gives quick feedback on how the tourism industry in Wales is performing at key times during the year. The findings published last week relate to the May/June half term holiday and found that most (83%) businesses have increased or maintained their visitor levels. Repeat business has brought stability to the industry during this period. Specific questions were also included on the impact of Brexit on the industry. More detailed findings can be found here.
Reminder - Visit Wales has also produced a video to provide an update on the key tourism performance data for Wales for 2018. Take a look and let us know what you think of this in the comments section. You can also read the full report.
Calling all tourist attractions
The Visits to Tourist Attractions survey will shortly be underway. The purpose of the survey is to analyse data on visit numbers to identify current trends and comparative analysis where possible. This will be useful for attractions to benchmark themselves. All eligible attractions should have received an e-mail from Beaufort Research and asked to complete a short form. Attractions are asked to respond promptly so that the researchers can move quickly onto the analysis and reporting stage.

The new school curriculum – good for business?
Education needs to prepare young people for a rapidly changing future and the world of work. Education in Wales is changing with the introduction of a new curriculum in 2022. An understanding of the world of work will begin at an early age.
As a business you can get involved by providing feedback on the new curriculum up until 19 July. You can do this via Hwb or by emailing CurriculumForWales2022@gov.wales. When the curriculum is live the Welsh Government hopes that businesses will link with schools to offer experiences and projects that help young people understand the world of business and work.
