Headteachers have more time to focus on leadership thanks to School Business Managers

Headteachers in Conwy recently met with the Education Minister to discuss how schools within the authority have benefited from the introduction of business support officers.

Access to free drinking water in schools vital for the health and wellbeing of Welsh pupils

Under section 6 of the Healthy Eating in Schools (Wales) Measure 2009, local authorities and governing bodies must ensure that free drinking water is available on the premises of any maintained school.

Cracking the Code with Codio Cymru

The Minister for Education, Kirsty Williams, returns to Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor today for the awards ceremony of the All Wales Coding Competition - Codio Cymru.

Additional National Professional Learning INSET days 2019 to 2022 

We want your views on a proposal to give schools additional time to prepare for the new curriculum before its introduction in 2022. Consultation ends 1 May 2019.

Primary schools: Tuesday 7 May to Tuesday 14 May 2019

Secondary schools: Monday 29 April to Tuesday 14 May 2019 . More information on Learning Wales

Numerical Reasoning: Supported Marking Service 2019 

Once again in 2019 we will be providing the Supported Marking Service for the Year 7 to 9 Numerical Reasoning Tests.

Three marking sessions will be held during the test window, and two immediately after the window:

  • 10 May – Llandrindod Wells (Metropole Hotel)
  • 11 May – Cardiff (Cardiff City Stadium (Cardiff City FC))
  • 13 May – Llandudno (Venue Cymru)
  • 15 May – Llanelli (Parc y Scarlets)
  • 16 May – Cardiff (Principality Stadium)

Headteachers will have receive an email and postal invitation to the events in the week commencing 4 March 2019. This will include details of how to register attendance at an event via the new online registration form.
