This week the Welsh Government completed the last of eight regional consultation events on the draft Additional Learning Needs Code for Wales. These events featured a video from the Minister for Education and the Minister for Health and Social Services, a presentation on the overview of the draft Code and an updated ‘frequently asked questions’ document. The consultation is open until 22 March 2019.

£1.7m grant to WLGA for schools’ IT
A reminder that a grant of £1.7m has been made available to support schools in preparation for delivering the digital requirements in the new curriculum. Priority will be given to schools most in need of upgrading devices and in-school infrastructure, including Wi-Fi. The grant has been awarded to the Welsh Local Government Association, who will be working with local authorities to allocate the funding where the need is greatest. Schools should contact their local authority for further information.
We’re pleased to announce that we’ve been working with Code Club to make available a number of free bilingual coding resources. The resources are easy to follow, step-by-step guides which introduce learners to coding languages like Scratch.
The mathematics teaching assessment materials (TAMs) have been reorganised as Playlists on Hwb to improve ease of use. In each playlist the resources are split in to areas of mathematical focus which can be accessed by an interactive contents page.
Into Film resources, such as Film in a Fortnight are available on Hwb, and can help you start out on potentially a similar journey to those attending the ceremony in March.
Tenner Challenge aims to support you and your students to develop crucial employability skills and experience - bringing a real-life context to core curriculum areas, such as Maths and English. It’s a FREE National Enterprise Challenge and students are pledged £10 from the Tenner Bank and use this start-up capital to get their enterprise off the ground.
