Bangor University will benefit from a further £2.8 million of EU funding for a new science and innovation hub to boost Wales’ shellfish industry
The funding will support scientific research and technology in establishing the university’s Shellfish Centre to help grow the industry in Wales, including supporting improvements to coastal water quality; the adoption of new technology and production methods and expansion into new markets – all priorities for Wales’ shellfish industry.
More than £2m of EU funds
will be invested to improve facilities and create new premises to meet demand
from small and medium sized businesses in Bridgend.
The funding will support
the redevelopment of the Innovation Centre at Bridgend Science Park and the
construction of a new enterprise centre at the Village Farm Industrial Estate. The new development will accommodate around 35 start-up and
early-years businesses and more than 100 jobs.
More than £1.5m of Welsh Government and EU funding, through the Building for the Future Fund, will be used to transform the former Magistrates Court in Port Talbot to support new businesses, create jobs and attract investment to the area.
