funding which includes £5.3m of EU funds for Gwynedd Council’s STEM Gogledd and
Swansea University’s Technocamps 2 to help young people continue STEM studies and pursue
STEM-related careers
Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Planning and Rural Affairs, Lesley
Griffiths, has announced today an investment for two Aberystwyth University
led projects, Future Foods and BioInnovation Wales, to support the food and
agriculture sector in Wales.

Aberystwyth University, in collaboration with QinetiQ, will lead the Geographical Data and Earth Observation for Monitoring (GEOM) programme, to
help companies in Wales exploit the fast-growing spatial intelligence market,
including satellite and drone technology.
The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal Adventure Triangle project will help develop outdoor recreation, tourism and leisure activity along the canal in Torfaen and Caerphilly.
The additional investment in the Financial Services Graduate
Programme, which has already been awarded £2.5m of EU funding, will support more graduates to
become professionals in the two important financial services and
data science sectors
in South East Wales.

Following the publication of Regional
Investment in Wales after Brexit policy paper, a
range of engagement activities with partners and stakeholders took
place between December 2017 and March 2018 to seek views on the
paper's ideas and proposals.
An independently produced
summary report of findings was published on 2 July.

has published its proposal for Horizon Europe, the successor to Horizon
2020.
The Welsh Government wants
the UK Government to retain full access to European programmes including
Horizon 2020 after Brexit (link).

The eighth call
for transnational co-operation initiatives will run until
the 22 November 2018.

The NWE Programme
also has a targeted call worth €50m underway to support renewable
energy projects in
North-West Europe.
