Expression of Interest Window closes 30 June 2017

The Farm Business Grant (FBG) is an important element of the Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Programme 2014-2020. It is designed to help farmers in Wales to improve the economic and environmental performance of their agricultural holdings.

Glastir Woodland Restoration

Expression of Interest Window closes 30 June 2017

The area eligible for funding under Glastir Woodland Restoration will be equivalent to twice the area of larch identified on the Statutory Plant Health Notice or felling licence.

TAIS is an investment fund targeting amenity projects in the tourism sector in Wales. Support of between £25,000 and £128,000 will be considered.

The application window is currently open for our Management Exchange Programme. We are looking for focused and ambitious farmers and foresters who are keen to broaden their horizons by taking part in an exchange visit to other European member states and/or hosting a foreign exchange farmer or forester on your holding. If selected, your visit could be fully-funded up to a maximum of £4,000.

Environmental Impact Assessment (Agriculture) (Wales) Regulations 2017

Following public consultation on the review of the Environmental Impact Assessment (Agriculture) (Wales) Regulations 2007, the amended EIA Regulations came in to force on 16 May 2017. The new Regulations provide more clarity on key definitions and streamline some of the regulatory requirements.

Llangollen Railway Trust Ltd - Corwen Central Station Project 

The Llangollen Railway Trust has been awarded grant aid of £128k in respect of the work to build an island platform at the Corwen Central station site where a volunteer work force, aided by contractors, has re-engineered the disused railway embankment to accommodate a new terminal facility.

Through a multi-pronged campaign, Menter Moch Cymru, is working with all sectors of the supply chain to develop a more sustainable, profitable and robust pig industry in Wales and by doing so, aims to increase the pig herd by 10%.

The seventh meeting of the European Rural Networks’ Steering Group (SG) focused on networks’ planned activities and how these contribute to the Cork 2.0 Action Plan.

In particular, the meeting discussed and proposed ideas for developing the 2017-2018 activities of the ENRD and EIP-AGRI networks.

A Thematic Group (TG) will be working on this topic from September 2016 to July 2017. The focus of the TG is on how to promote competitive and economically resilient clusters of rural businesses, which build on rural assets and create jobs.

The “European Award for Cooperative Innovation” is a Cogeca initiative that aims to recognise and promote practices and innovative solutions designed by European agri-cooperatives, and share, within the sector and with policy makers, the achievements in the agri-food chain, as well as the innovative ways to create value for their members.
