Cabinet Secretary announces new funding for musical instruments in schools

Every council in Wales is to receive an extra £10,000 to buy musical instruments for pupils, Education Secretary Kirsty Williams has announced.

Subject experts needed (General Qualifications)

Qualifications Wales is looking to commission subject experts with knowledge, understanding and experience of teaching and/or assessment for certain subjects.  

New mapping tool for the Digital Competence Framework (DCF)

Digital Pioneers have developed a new mapping tool for the Digital Competence Framework (DCF). It enables schools to cross-reference current teaching in subjects and years with elements of the DCF to show levels of DCF coverage, helping them plan to cover the full range of skills within each element over the course of a year. The tool will also help schools to spread DCF coverage more evenly across the school.

Learning Wales user testing

Secure mail - Hwb Message Encryption

Hwb Message Encryption (HME) is one of the three enhanced controls, outlined in our information security guidance document, which can be used to provide an added layer of security to e-mail. HME only applies to e-mails which are sent from a Hwbmail account to an external e-mail account. For more information view the HwbMail Security Guidance .

The Young Darwinian – Free resource for the classroom

An international journal for school student publications in science, natural history, maths, engineering and entrepreneurship.  Inspiring you to carry out projects and publish your own work, ideas and experiences.  

Welsh synthetic voices 

Available free of charge to schools, individuals and non-commercial organisations by emailing cymru@rnib.org.uk. The RNIB developed the voices with the text to speech software company IVONA, with financial assistance from the Welsh Government. The voices of Geraint a Gwyneth are useful for screen reading and reading websites and documents out aloud.

Even when you’re not online, you can check and translate thousands of the English and Welsh words you’re likely to need for your school work and homework.
