Digital
Pioneers have developed a new mapping tool for the Digital Competence Framework
(DCF). It enables schools to cross-reference current teaching in subjects and
years with elements of the DCF to show levels of DCF coverage, helping them
plan to cover the full range of skills within each element over the course of a
year. The tool will also help schools to spread DCF coverage more evenly across
the school.

New rules for the courses that train teachers in Wales are part of the drive to attract the best talent to the profession, Education Secretary Kirsty Williams has announced.
The Criteria for the accreditation of initial teacher education programmes in Wales: Teaching Tomorrows’ Teachers are now available.
We are looking for committed and capable candidates for the chair and deputy chairs for the Education Workforce Council Teacher Education Accreditation Committee (the “board”). Closes 31 March.
Computational thinking – new resources for Years 1-3 and Years 4-6
New digital resources from Barefoot have been added to HWB thanks to collaboration with BT.
The free resources, for years 1-3 and years 4-6, will support teaching activities linked to the Digital Competence Framework (DCF), in the area of Data and Computational Thinking. They were developed by South West Grid for Learning.
To access the resources, select ‘classroom task ideas’ next to the relevant statement in the DCF, and Log in to Hwb to access the materials.

The RNIB developed the voices with the text to speech software company IVONA, with
financial assistance from the Welsh Government. The voices of Geraint a Gwyneth
are useful for screen reading and reading websites and documents out aloud.
This free app includes the
Welsh standardised educational term dictionary Termiadur Addysg. It’s available
for Apple iOS, Android mobile and Kindle. Even when you’re not online, you can
check and translate thousands of the English and Welsh words you’re likely to
need for your school work and homework.

resource pack to help teachers approach a self–led visit to around Dinefwr Park
in a creative, confident and imaginative way. The activity suggestions are
flexible and can be carried out in a number of ways.

colourful and comprehensive collection of cross-curricular resources aimed at
the Foundation Phase.
This pack supports KS2 learners in understanding the
impact of WWI and subsequent wars on ordinary people in Wales and beyond.

Childcare
providers across the UK, including schools or those delivering on school
premises, are signing up for the UK government’s new offer. Tax-Free
Childcare offers up to £2,000 per child per year, or £4,000 if a child is
disabled. Childcare providers must sign up to be able to receive payments from
parents through the scheme.
