We’re
proud to announce that Harlech Castle’s recent Visitor Centre and Footbridge
project has been nominated for ICE (The Institution of Civil Engineers)
People’s Choice Award.
We’d
be thrilled if you’d consider voting for us — and ICE are entering everyone who
votes over on their website into a
prize draw to win a Nikon Coolpix A10 camera.
The
project
The
£5.8m project started back in 2009 when Cadw, recognising Harlech’s value as a
tourist destination, overhauled the facilities to create world class heritage
attraction. The project saw:
- The creation of a 47m-long ‘floating’ footbridge, which allowed visitors to enter the site through the original entrance for the first time in 600 years.
- The nearby Harlech Castle Hotel converted into five high quality self-catering apartments, providing much-needed accommodation space for the town.
- The creation of a new, energy-efficient visitor centre
- The integration of mains services within the Castle, enabling a much broader programme of activities and events for both tourists and the wider community.

you’d like to support us, please vote at ice.org.uk/peopleschoice before 30 November. Voting closes at midnight on 30
