We have worked with a number of schools to produce case studies to further support the implementation of the National Literacy and Numeracy Framework (LNF).
The Cabinet
Secretary for Education has decided to withdraw the decision to amend the
expected levels for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 and therefore any resulting
amendments to the target setting regulations, to increase the expected level of
achievement for learners in English, Welsh (first language) and Mathematics at
the end of Key Stages 2 and 3 from Summer 2018.

Proposals for the registration fee models for the
Education Workforce Council (EWC) from 1 April 2017.
The Bureaucracy Project letter and Audit Tables outline information to develop
a comprehensive document which will be useful to schools and colleges as a
work-planning and bench-marking tool. It focuses on identifying duplication and
unnecessary returns to reduce and mitigate bureaucratic burdens.

praise for the way leaders at Pembroke Dock Community School are involving
parents and carers in the education of children there.
St David Awards 2017

The Apprenticeship Awards Cymru
celebrate the outstanding achievements of learners, employers and providers
involved in the delivery of quality Employability and Apprenticeship programmes
across Wales. Sponsorship packages are offered at a number of levels and the
earlier you secure sponsorship at the awards, the more opportunities you have.
Review of
progression planning in further education in Wales
A
review of how well colleges in Wales are planning and delivering their
curriculum to secure progression opportunities for learners at all levels is
now available on Learning Wales.
Self assessment for
post-16 providers
Guidance on the requirements for providers to submit
an annual self-assessment report and quality development plan is updated
annually in light of experience, feedback from providers and emerging Welsh
Government priorities. The latest version of the guidance is available on our website or via a link from Learning Wales.
On her first visit to the city since being appointed
Education Secretary, Kirsty Williams has said students and staff from across
the European Union are welcome at Swansea University (Thurs 14th July).
National Tests 2017
The dates for the 2017 National Tests have been set as follows:

National Test Results
This guidance highlights some key points that may be helpful to practitioners when discussing test outcomes with parents/carers.
Documents to support the reporting of National Test results, including the “Calculating the Learners Scores” tables, Pupil Results Sheet template and age-calculator are now available on Learning Wales.
We have produced a short animation to talk parents/carers through the National Reading and Numeracy Test reports. A link to the animation is included on the pupil results sheet, but you may wish to share this link on your school’s website for parents and carers.
A guide to parents/carers is also available in booklet format.
Meic is the national information, advice and advocacy helpline for children and young people (0-25) in Wales. Since Meic was set up in 2011, it has dealt with nearly 30,000 contacts, covering a wide range of issues from exam stress to bullying, depression to eating disorders, and much more. Watch video

The Dahlightful Stories Competition is an
official Roald Dahl 100 Wales contest for children attending Primary School
(Year 3 to 6) or Secondary School (Year 7 to 13) in Wales.
Hwb+ Upgrade
As part of the ongoing developments of schools Hwb+ sites, all 1600+ school sites in Wales will be upgraded over the Summer holidays
The upgrade will see the entire Hwb+ platform, including public facing websites, migrated from the current SharePoint 2010 infrastructure to SharePoint 2013.
As this is a whole platform upgrade all Hwb+ sites will remain accessible but in read only mode from Friday 22 July.
All migrated sites and content will be released by Thursday 1 September.

and the new academic year
To ensure your Hwb+ site is updated with users, classes and
subjects for the new academic year, a “rollover” process takes place. In most cases your local authority will be
managing the process and there should be very little admin required in school.
