International Professional Learning Programme (IPLC) – Successful Schools
Through the British Council IPLC Programme, practitioners exchange best practice across the globe. The following schools will benefit from an iPLC visit to New York this month: -
A PLC cluster - Glan Usk Primary; Cefn Fforest Primary; Coed Eva Primary; Millbrook Primary, Newport High, The Bridge Achievement Centre (supported by the University of Wales Trinity St David) together with 2 schools representing a consortia PLC - Blackwood Comprehensive and Bassaleg School.
A new
strategy and action plan that will help looked after children in Wales to
fulfil their potential at school and beyond is being launched today (28/01/16)

Schools
across Wales now have the opportunity to apply to join the next round of the
Lead Creative Schools Scheme, which aims to improve teaching and learning with
innovative and tailored programmes of creative learning. The period for
applications opens on 12 January and
runs until 29 February 2016.

difficult to pinpoint enriching activities for your learners? Use the summer
schools directory to identify opportunities pan-Wales and within the U.K. for a
range of ages. The directory has three main themes, which include:

Two kilograms of rocket seeds are now on board the International Space Station,
the British Astronaut Tim Peake is
asking schools to sign up to this space experiment to grow the seeds when he
returns to the UK. To apply for a

Wales leading the way!
The Digital Learning team would like to thank all those who attended our stand at BETT. Over four days the team met with hundreds of visitors, from schools, local authorities and regional education consortia. Furthermore, there was significant interest from other countries all of which were impressed with the vision and scale of developments which are taking place in Wales.

This is an app version of the
Cywirdeb Iaith website. The app and
website have been created for learners of Welsh as a second language at KS5.
The app provides a sample of the website’s content and has been designed to
offer interactive grammatical challenges and experiences on smart phones and
tablet devices. The app is available now on Hwb!

formed Learning and Work Institute are proud to be hosting the Inspire! Awards
in their 25th year! Our new organisation was launched in January 2016 following
a merger between NIACE and the Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion. Nominations close: Friday 4th March, 2016
Connecting
Classrooms is offering a new course for teachers in Wales to develop their
practice in relation to teaching the core skills of critical thinking and
problem solving. The training package helps teachers anticipate changes to the
Welsh curriculum by following the recommendation in Successful Futures to embed
the Wider Skills across all Key Stages.
One
of Conwy Education Services’ key messages is ‘Promoting Learner Health and
Wellbeing’. The 2015 Successful Futures curriculum review highlighted the
essential role of Health and Wellbeing, thus the department have brought
together a wide array of projects together that promotes this agenda.
