International Professional Learning Programme (IPLC) – Successful Schools

Through the British Council IPLC Programme, practitioners exchange best practice across the globe.  The following schools will benefit from an iPLC visit to New York this month: -

A PLC cluster - Glan Usk Primary; Cefn Fforest Primary; Coed Eva Primary; Millbrook Primary, Newport High, The Bridge Achievement Centre (supported by the University of Wales Trinity St David) together with 2 schools representing a consortia PLC - Blackwood Comprehensive and Bassaleg School.

New plan to help looked after children reach their potential

Sign up for the Lead Creative Schools Scheme

Schools across Wales now have the opportunity to apply to join the next round of the Lead Creative Schools Scheme, which aims to improve teaching and learning with innovative and tailored programmes of creative learning. The period for applications opens on 12 January and runs until 29 February 2016.

Over four days the team met with hundreds of visitors, from schools, local authorities and regional education consortia. Connecting Classrooms course: Teaching critical thinking and problem solving

Connecting Classrooms is offering a new course for teachers in Wales to develop their practice in relation to teaching the core skills of critical thinking and problem solving. The training package helps teachers anticipate changes to the Welsh curriculum by following the recommendation in Successful Futures to embed the Wider Skills across all Key Stages.

Young Ambassadors Case Study - Promoting Learner Health and Wellbeing Governor Training 

One of Conwy Education Services’ key messages is ‘Promoting Learner Health and Wellbeing’. The 2015 Successful Futures curriculum review highlighted the essential role of Health and Wellbeing, thus the department have brought together a wide array of projects together that promotes this agenda.
