Farm cluster event success

BF1

We hope everyone who attended the recent Roding and West Essex Farm Cluster group event at Bury Farm enjoyed it.

It was a wonderful evening, with lots of positive connections made. The food was amazing too!

Thank you to Jane Donaghy and Jonathan Clarke for hosting, and to Darren Tansley (Essex Wildlife Trust) and Mark Nowers (RSPB) for leading the walks and offering such a valuable insight.

We hope the links that were made will inspire people to move on with the vision of a Sustainable Uttlesford, which can produce healthy food in a wildlife rich landscape.

Here are some interesting documentaries which explain how animal grazing should be done:

Here are links to some of the sustainable products that the cluster is producing which require zero input (no pesticide, herbicide or fungicide):

Nature recovery in Essex communities

ELNP

Wednesday 16 July, 10am to 1pm

Chelmsford Central Baptist Church, CM1 1LN

This free event is for Essex nature groups and individuals interested in nature.

The event will focus on action needed at local level to implement the Essex Local Nature Recovery Strategy, which is due to be published this week. It will also launch a small grants fund available to groups to assist with nature recovery at community level.

The guest speaker is John Little who will be talking about his pioneering wildlife friendly garden at Hilldrop.

The event will be an opportunity to hear about actions for nature that are already happening in Essex communities, to hopefully inspire others to take similar action.

Refreshments will be available.

How community energy works?

Comm energy2

Tuesday 29 July, 7pm to 9pm

Online webinar

Community energy is about local communities coming together to take ownership and control of renewable energy projects, like solar or wind farms, to generate, manage and ensure that the benefits from clean energy stay local.

The next Sustainable Uttlesford event will focus on exploring opportunities for community energy across the district. This event is open to all – both existing community energy projects and those with no experience who may be thinking about starting a project or group.

The meeting will explore how to develop and fund local community renewable energy projects, including how to make sure the financial and environmental benefits stay within our communities.

Agenda:

  • What is community energy? – Kirsty Shanahan, Community Energy Pathways
  • Case studies
  • Community energy in Uttlesford/Essex Chris Dodge & Bob Burlton
  • Questions, answers & discussion

Join us to find out how to involve your community, develop projects, generate the funding and investment, reduce energy costs and support building community climate resilience.
