You are receiving this newsletter as you have signed up to be a member of the new Sustainable Uttlesford collaboration.
The intention is to issue this newsletter on a regular basis to keep you updated on actions and ideas of the collaboration, as well as provide other useful information and insights.
The distribution list for this newsletter is a 'closed group' – that means it will only be sent to those who have signed up as a member or are interested in the work of the new collaboration. It is not available to the general public, although there is nothing in it that could not be shared further afield as you see fit.
If you would like to add anyone else to the distribution list, please email the details to: climatechange@uttlesford.gov.uk. Equally, if you do not wish to continue receiving the newsletter, please let us know and we will remove you from the distribution list.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Sustainable Uttlesford launch event at Little Canfield, on 9 April.
It was a really positive start and a real statement as to the widespread interest in such an important issue. Together we can support each other to engage even more people to protect and enhance our district.

The committee is now working on an activity plan for the next year. This will feature regular public meetings and events to be able to continue networking and collaborating on community action. Don't forget the first public meeting is on 11 June, 7pm to 9pm – venue and details to be confirmed
The online connection hub should be available soon and this will provide a very useful information directory and resource library. Please do also like the Sustainable Uttlesford Facebook page and share any information and resources.
If you have any queries or suggestions, you can also email: info@sustainable-uttlesford.org.uk
Do you have pictures of your projects, or the area that you live, that could be used to populate our developing website?
If so, please send to info@sustainable-uttlesford.org.uk
Thank you very much in advance – we look forward to seeing your images.

Great Big Green Week (7 to 15 June) is the UK's biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
The year the campaign is all about making "small swaps, large swaps and swaps that change the system, to make our communities better".
During the week, communities, schools, businesses and more join together in a wave of support for action to protect the planet.
If you are planning any events and want some extra support in publicising these, please share to the Sustainable Uttlesford Facebook page or email the details to info@sustainable-uttlesford.org.uk

With this gorgeous weather upon us, and as part of the ongoing efforts to encourage more sustainable travel in our district, we wanted to make communities aware of the 'try-before-you-buy' bike hire scheme.
Anyone who lives, works or studies in Uttlesford can rent an e-bike or pedal bike for up to six months at a subsidised rate. This is ideal for those who would like to try out a bike before buying.
Claire Entwisle, from Wicken Bonhunt, hired one of the bikes last summer and loved it – she is pictured here on the bike on her way to the farmers' market in Newport.
How it works
Go to the Uttlesford Bike Club website and choose the type of bike you would like. You can choose how long you want to try the bike for, your delivery time and date, and how you want to to pay.
