Next week (w/c 20 December) collections of the black-lidded waste bin and brown food waste caddy in Uttlesford will take place a day earlier than usual – see table below for your revised collection date.
Please note that there will not be any collections made in the week following Christmas (28 to 31 December).
Collections will return to normal from Tuesday 4 January 2022. This will be for the green-lidded recycling bin and brown food waste caddy. If you have extra recycling, you can leave it beside your bin for collection in white/clear bags or cardboard boxes – we cannot collect any recycling if it is in black bags.
► Get more information about bin collection arrangements and get your 2022 recycling and waste calendar
The Uttlesford Community Safety Partnership will be bringing the knife amnesty bin to:
- Elsenham Tesco Express, Thursday 23 December from 12.30pm to 1.30pm
- Henham Village shop, Thursday 23 December from 2pm to 3pm
This is part of a nationwide initiative, and is for any residents who want to dispose safely of any unwanted bladed articles and weapons.
The Partnership can also collect items – email Uttlesford.cpt@essex.police.uk for more details.
With more people doing their festive shopping online this year due coronavirus, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is warning that hackers have more opportunities to carry out cyber attacks.
They do this by using email and website scams, and malware (software that can damage a device or let a hacker in). If they get into your device or accounts, they could access your money or personal information.
If you are using a personal device to do your online shopping over Christmas, the NCSC website has some very helpful advice on the actions you can take to stay safe. You might also want to take a look at their '12 Scams of Christmas' poster for tips.
How to report and stop scam mail
Friends Against Scams has launched a Scamnesty (a scam mail amnesty) campaign. This aims to encourage everyone to send in any unwanted scam and nuisance mail that they receive into the NTS Scams Team, free of charge.
The more scam letters the team can get hold of, the more likely they are to be able to put a stop to them landing on your doormat.
